    Excited to be a authlete!

  • Linda Baie

Thanks for all the work you’re doing, Ed. What a treat to be included!

  • Guest

This is the best! Thank you so much. I’m so excited l and am loving meeting all these incredible poets!

    • Mother Streusel

Ha ha! I made an error and tried to delete this. Apparently it only deleted my name.

  • Mother Streusel

This is the best!! I am so excited and am already enjoying meeting so many incredibly talented people! Thank you so much for doing this and for letting me participate. I’m honored.

  • Ryan Stockton

Excellent. Thanks Ed! I’m looking forward to competing! By the way, is there a bracket that I can download (PDF, JPEG, etc…)?

    • Ed DeCaria

I’ll post the full bracket within 24 hours. Wanted to give people some time to experience the “slow reveal” on video before just plastering the bracket everywhere.

  • Buffy Silverman

Looking forward to the competition (but nervous to face Matt, my fellow poets garage member.) Here’s a ditty for Matt:

    I’m wishing Matt luck
(‘though I doubt that he’ll need it.)
    If his verse runs amok,
he’ll tame it and knead it

    while my rhyme loses steam
    and my meter gets stuck;
Still I’ll write and I’ll dream,
    intrepid, with pluck.

  • Laura Shovan

I love seeing so many Poetry Friday friends participating in The Games.

    • Mother Streusel

      What is Poetry Friday?

  • julie krantz

    Nice to be here, everyone!

  • Jeanne Poland

Last but not least! Like in the old days when I entered the triathlon in Kent Conn. Great to see my poet buddies on the gym floor. Staying nimble. Deep breathing! Jeanne Poland

  • Damon Dean

Fantastic to be selected again. Can’t wait for the competition.

  • Jackie Wellington

    I’m happy to be here
I’m a newbie to “Poetry” games
But don’t sleep on my skills
I’m like a dragon spitting flames
    ~Jackie Wellington

    • Damon Dean

Whoa Jackie! Go girl! Glad we meet again after 14:14… – Damon

      • Jackie Wellington

How about that? It is glad to meet you, again :D How have you been?

    • Mother Streusel

      I love fierce competition
      Whether I win or lose
      To have a lesser rival
Is not something I would choose

A battle where both are strong
      Makes a victory sweet
And to whoever won’t go on,
      There’ll be honor in defeat

      – Karyn Linnell

      • Jackie Wellington

        Just by competing,
        I know I’ve already won
        I’m stepping out on faith
I’m ready to have some fun
I’m not Jay-Z or Lil Wayne
Jane Yolen, Dr. Seuss, or even Mark Twain
        But my freestyle skills
Sure to put you to shame
        I’m gathering words
        Stashing them in pile
        Waiting for the games
So I can bust my freestyle
        I have a 50/50 shot
        to either win or lose
        Maybe it ain’t my time
        I’m still paying my dues

        • Mother Streusel

Sure enough, your rhymes are tough.
          But do not be mistaken
I’ve got the stuff, I’ll call your bluff
          I’m not easily shaken.

          • Jackie Wellington

Thanks for helping me brush up my skills.
I’m a newbie and I’m loving the drills.
            There’s no bluff here,
This is not a poker game
            I’m a writer at heart
Stripping you of your poetry name
            Mother Streusel?
            or Chief Poet?
            Been through your Facebook page
            You didn’t even know it
            But I look forward
            To what you’re serving
            Save it for the game
            I’m done CONVERSING
**DROP MIC** (THIS MEANS IT’S OVER)

            • Mother Streusel

I’m new, too. Please don’t suspect
              I mean you any disrespect.
It’s all in fun, this banter and prattle…
But, yes, let’s save it for the battle. :)

            • Josh

I’m preppin’ to step, you two ain’t got a shot.
I’m droppin’ grenades with each sentence I jot.
              I’m sensational, vocational, sometimes confrontational.
              But can be inspirational, mo-mo-motivational.
Your only hope to cope with me might be not to vote for me
Or hope, you see, that Ed will have no sympathy
And throw a word at me like abattoir or sangaree.
or snickersnee or maybe even syzygy

Oh Ed, please don’t do that to me.

            • Mother Streusel

              Ha ha!!!

  • Michelle Heidenrich Barnes

Hello Mad Revelers! For better or worse, somehow I feel my life will never be the same again.

  • Damon Dean

Thanks Josh! May be meeting you again somewhere on this bracket! Gear up and good luck to you too!

  • Mother Streusel

I just posted about my upcoming participation on my blog. I would love to invite any athletes to comment and provide links to your work.
