We’re now just eight days away from the start of March Madness Poetry 2013!
Continuing my one-a-day posting of my Top Ten favorite poems from #MMPoetry 2012 … today we’ll get a little silly with Darren Sardelli’s poem prompted by his 8-seed word “thawed” in the first round:
8-thawed
Broken Soup
by Darren Sardelli
Before I thawed the frozen soup,
I dropped it on the floor.
It shattered like the purple vase
I elbowed at the store.
I couldn’t find a chunk of soup—
It thawed on Fluffy’s mat.
We’re now the only household
with a chicken-flavored cat!
This poem captured 72% of the vote in its matchup and helped Darren reach the second round. Click here to see this poem as it originally appeared in #MMPoetry 2012.
