Who Should We Lure Into Becoming An #MMPoetry 2014 Authlete?

Believe it or not, #MMPoetry 2014 is right around the corner!

The polling plug-in that I’ve used for voting the last two years suffered from some severe limitations, so I am looking into switching to a new service. But before I do, I need to test it, so I thought we could all have some fun in the process.

Please take one minute to 1) vote in the poll below, and 2) SHARE THIS POLL on your social network or blog so that I can test scalability. (Remember those “too many processes” error messages from the last two years? I think this new service might alleviate that problem, but I’m not sure.) After you vote, PLEASE use the buttons that appear below the results to share it on Facebook and Twitter.

The results of the poll are all in good fun, so I hope no one (especially the poets listed) takes it too seriously. But who knows — maybe a little bait can land another big fish for this year’s tournament.

Now here’s the poll (it also appears on the right sidebar of my redesigned home page, so excuse the narrow format):

POLL CLOSED. HERE ARE THE RESULTS (I deleted the polling plug-in used for this, so I just pasted in the results):

Can’t get access to the comment box. Wanted to say: Try the silver haired poets.

Hi Jeanne! Can you explain more what you mean? I see the comment. Just needed to “approve” it since it’s probably the first comment you’ve made on TKT since I switched to Disqus.

I should have mentioned: I only put people on the list who have never participated in MMPoetry before. So people like Jane Yolen, Kenn Nesbitt, Charles Ghigna, etc. were excluded. I saw Amy Ludwig VanDerwater as a write-in vote, so that’s what made me think of this point.

Gotta love write-in votes for dead people and fictional characters …

I’m sure it was an innocent oversight but you forgot to list Rebecca Kai Dotlich.

There are many others I could have listed; I didn’t spend too much time on the list other than to choose ten people — five men and five women — who have never participated in #MMPoetry before.

Doesn’t matter much for MMPoetry, but pretty annoying that you all can’t see the write-in votes. I thought that you could. I’ll post them once the poll closes on Thursday night.

OK. When I try to type in the Join the discussion box, I get a cursor, but no text. It bounces me out of the box.
My comment is a joke about picking a senior poet!
